Education

Wenxi attained a master’s degree in Behavioural Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where she specialized in experimental design and data analytics. She also holds a bachelor’s degree (hons) in Finance at the University of Durham.

Research Areas

Wenxi's latest research project investigates the limitations of consent as a mechanism for data protection in the smart city, and discusses an alternative ‘Accountability Model’ in the context of Singapore.

Other Information

Wenxi was a research associate at Singapore Management University’s Centre for AI and Data Governance (CAIDG) from 2021 to 2024, prior to its merger into the Centre for Digital Law (CDL). Her interdisciplinary research focused on human-technology interactions, data governance and the digital economy. During her term, she was the Principal Investigator leading the year-long project “Auditing AI for Whom? A Community-Centric Approach to Rebuilding Public Trust in Singapore,” funded by the Notre-Dame Technology Ethics Lab (USA). She was also an editor of the Elgar Companion to Regulating AI and Big Data in Emerging Economies, a scholarly collection that explores the nature and role of regulation in the Global South from a techno-dependent societal perspective. A member of the international Digital Self-Determination (iDSD) network, she served as a panellist representing CDL at international conferences, presenting findings from workshops with industry leaders and regulators of Open Finance.
