Professional Appointments

Simon Bronitt is Professor of Law at the University of Sydney Law School, where he served as Dean and Head of School from 2019 to 2024. A graduate of the Universities of Bristol and Cambridge, he has held senior academic appointments at The Australian National University, University of Hong Kong, Griffith University, and University of Queensland.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and, in 2025, served as the Allen & Gledhill Visiting Professor at the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University.

Other Information

Over a career spanning more than three decades, Simon has published extensively in criminal law, evidence and procedure, and policing, with a particular focus on law and technology. His recent co-authored works include Principles of Criminal Law (5th ed., Lawbook Co, 2026), Federal Proceeds of Crime Law (Lawbook Co, 2024), Law in Context (5th ed., Federation Press 2023), and Rape Law in Context (Federation Press, 2018).
