SMUCDL’s Senior Research Affiliate Prof. Ching-Fu Lin from National Tsing Hua University delivered a thought-provoking seminar titled AI's Law and Policy Challenges: A Global Perspective where he shared insights on global AI governance. Prof. Lin provided a comprehensive analysis of AI’s developmental trajectory, key regulatory challenges, and governance initiatives at the global, EU, US, China, and Singapore levels. More importantly, he offered a nuanced perspective on regulatory design, prompting us to consider critical dimensions such as timing and institutional competence.
We thank Prof. Lin for sharing these valuable observations, drawing from his excellent works on "Institutional Design, Normative Substance, and Governance Limits of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act” and "AI Governance in East Asia: Mapping the Contexts and Dynamics of Interaction”.
