The Tech for Good Institute (TFGI), in partnership with Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, and the SMU Centre for Digital Law (CDL) were pleased to co-organise a roundtable on “Governing Frontier Technologies in Southeast Asia". The session brought together government representatives, academics, and industry practitioners to examine evolving approaches to governing emerging technologies across the region, with a focus on balancing innovation, regulatory effectiveness, and societal trust.
This edition's research sharing session focuses on The Evolution of Tech Governance in Southeast Asia 2025. Keith Detros, Programme Manager at TFGI, presented regional developments in tech governance, while Asst Prof How Khang Lim, SMUCDL faculty member, shared insights on Singapore’s evolving approach. These presentations set the stage for a robust roundtable discussion on governing frontier technologies in an increasingly complex and dynamic digital landscape.
We are grateful to TFGI and Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth for the partnership in convening this insightful discussion, and we look forward to continued collaboration in advancing thoughtful and forward-looking approaches to tech governance in Southeast Asia.
