The American Society of International Law (ASIL) Interest Groups Engagement Session was held at the SMU Yong Pung How School of Law, co-hosted by Foley Hoag LLP and the SMU Centre for Digital Law. The event brought together leading international law practitioners and academics to exchange insights on bridging practice and research, as well as to discuss career paths in international disputes and emerging issues in trade law and the law of the sea.

The session opened with remarks by Mélida Hodgson (President, ASIL; Partner, Arnold & Porter LLP) and Pasha Hsieh (Professor, YPHSL). The session also featured insightful presentations by Peter Tzeng (Partner, Foley Hoag LLP), Marike Paulsson (Secretary General, Council for International Dispute Resolution, Bahrain), Prof Hsieh, Nengye Liu (Associate Professor, YPHSL), Georgios Dimitropoulos (Professor, HBKU Law; CDL Senior Research Affiliate), and Tara Maria Davenport (Assistant Professor, NUS Law). The event concluded with closing remarks by Han-Wei Liu (Associate Professor, YPHSL), Deputy Director of CDL and former Co-Chair of Asil-International Law & Technology Interest Group.

YPHSL is ASIL’s Academic Partner and a Silver Sponsor of the ASIL Abroad Meeting in Singapore. CDL Senior Research Affiliate Josh Lee Kok Thong, alongside YPHSL Profs Henry Gao and David Llewelyn, spoke at the meeting and shared insights, further advancing discussions on international law and dispute resolution.
